At least 53 killed, 40 hurt as bus hits landmine in Nepal - Agence France Presse

KATHMANDU (AFP) - At least 53 people were killed and 40 injured in southwestern Nepal when a crowded bus hit a landmine planted by suspected Maoist rebels, state radio said.

The blast occurred near the village of Badarmude, 180 kilometres (113 miles) southwest of Kathmandu.

The radio said Monday that the 16 seriously injured people had been transferred to hospitals in the capital for treatment.
