Madonna Kharebava - Georgia
Since 1998, Madonna has served as the Chairperson of the Association of Disabled Women and Mothers of Disabled Children (ADW). ADW works for the promotion and protection of rights of women and children through lobbying, surveys, legal advice, socio-economic projects, conferences, networking, training, and workshops. The beneficiaries of ADW at the moment include 11 landmine survivors.
Madonna has a teaching background, and was a teacher of physics and astronomy until 1993.
In 1993, Madonna contracted a flu virus that left her with polyarthritis. As a result, Madonna moves with difficulty, and uses a wheelchair.
