Nobel Peace Prize and Awards
Nobel Peace Prize
LSN played a leadership role in the Nobel Peace Prize-winning coalition that spearheaded the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty, and chaired the US Campaign to Ban Landmines from 2000 to 2002.

LSN Executive Director Jerry White participated in the Nobel Peace Prize Centennial Celebration Symposium in Oslo in December of 2001, honoring Nobel laureates from the past 100 years.

The Marshall Legacy Institute Award, 2005
LSN Co-founder Ken Rutherford was honored at the Marshall Legacy Institute's (MLI) Third Annual Awards Gala, "Clearing the Path to a Safer World," for his work in improving the lives of people in war-torn, mine-contaminated countries. MLI currently sponsors mine detection dog programs in Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Eritrea, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

University of Michigan's Council on Disability Concerns 2004 James Neubacher Award
Jerry White was nominated for the University of Michigan's Council on Disability Concerns 2004 James Neubacher Award. The award is given to a University alumni, faculty, or student for their activities advocating for equal rights and opportunities for people with disabilities.

Western Law Center for Disability Rights' Charles Siegal President's Award
Jerry White is the recipient of this year's Western Law Center for Disability Rights' Charles Siegal President's Award. He will receive the prestigious Siegal award at a gala event in Los Angeles the evening of Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at the Los Angeles Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Adopt-a-Minefield® Humanitarian Award, 2002
Sir Paul McCartney & Lady Heather Mills presented Ken Rutherford and Jerry White with the Award for their leadership in the global landmine movement.

Paul G. Hearne/American Association of People with Disabilities Leadership Award
LSN Executive Director Jerry White was awarded the 2001 Paul G. Hearne/American Association of People with Disabilities Leadership Award.

United Airlines Everyday Hero Award
LSN co-founder and Board Member Ken Rutherford received the "Everyday Hero" award from United Airlines. This is the first year of the leadership award, given to 25 people who have made a contribution to society. 

Mohamed Amin Award for Humanitarian Service
LSN Co-Founder and Executive Director Jerry White received the 2000 Mohamed Amin Award for Humanitarian Service by the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP). The award was in recognition of his efforts to ban landmines and help landmine victims around the world.

Brown University William Rogers Award
LSN Executive Director and Co-Founder Jerry White (Brown '86) received the Brown University William Rogers Award of 2000 recognizing outstanding alumnus or alumna whose service to society in general would be representative of the words of the Brown Charter: living a life 'of usefulness and reputation.' The award is an honor recognizing current or important contributions to human kind made by Brown alumnus or alumna anywhere in the world. Past recipients of the award include Ambassador Richard Holbrooke and Pennsylvania State University football coach Joe Paterno.

Leadership Award in International Rehabilitation
LSN received the 1999 Center for International Rehabilitation, honoring individuals or organizations that have demonstrated by their example and work that the potential of the individual is limitless and the capacity of the human spirit for renewal is boundless. LSN was honored for its leadership in raising awareness of the landmine issues and drawing attention to the importance of rehabilitation programs for landmine survivors.

National Golden Rose Media Award
LSN was the recipient of the 1998 National Golden Rose Media Award in recognition of it's efforts to raise awareness of the dangers posed by mines in Bosnia.

MTV Free Your Mind Award
LSN Bosnia Director Plamenko Priganica received the 1997 MTV "Free Your Mind Award" in recognition of the achievements of LSN Bosnia.

Reebok Human Rights Award
Former LSN Eritrea Network Director, Abraham Gebreyesus, received the 1997 Reebok Human Rights Award.
