Monday, May 23, 2005

(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 2005--DynCorp International LLC has been awarded one of three contracts to provide light conventional-arms abatement services for the U.S. Department of State. The contract is valued at up to $500 million over a term of one base year and four option years, and provides for a full range of services around the world, including landmine clearance, facilities construction, and securing a variety of small arms and light weapons.

DynCorp International will support the Department of State\'s Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement, which manages State\'s portion of the multi-agency U.S. Humanitarian Mine Action Program. The office currently conducts humanitarian mine action (landmine clearance, mine-risk education, and mine-survivors assistance) in 22 countries, and operates the Quick Reaction Demining Force, the only demining force in the world that can be deployed globally on short notice. The contract addresses conventional weapons and munitions to include landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), abandoned ordnance (AO), man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS), and other small arms and light weapons (SA/LW). Under the contract, DynCorp International will also help countries destroy or secure their excess munitions and light conventional weapons.

\"We are pleased to have been selected to support the U.S. Humanitarian Mine Action Program, the world\'s largest such program,\" said Stephen J. Cannon, president and CEO of DynCorp International. \"This award recognizes our global capability and demonstrates the confidence the Department of State has in DynCorp International to meet the Department\'s most challenging requirements.\"

DynCorp International recently announced that it has been awarded another State Department contract, with an estimated annual value of $174 million, to assist foreign governments in the eradication and interdiction of illicit crops such as coca and opium poppy.

DynCorp International is a leading professional services and project management firm with global expertise in aviation services, logistics, and security operations. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, DynCorp International employs 14,500 people in some 40 countries. It traces its beginnings to the founding of Dynalectron Corporation in 1946, and in 2004 had revenues of nearly $2 billion.
